Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form College students have been celebrating after achieving record breaking A Level results. Students at the College smashed the national A Level pass rate, achieving a 99% pass rate in A Level subjects.

In nineteen subjects, students achieved 100% pass rates including the science subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Human Biology. More students also achieved higher grades in A Level subjects than ever before.

Karl Fairhurst who previously attended Egerton Park Arts College achieved 4 A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics. He amassed 560 UCAS points with his results and will be moving on to the University of Manchester to study Chemical Engineering.

Jade Dixon will join Karl at Manchester when she starts her course in Medicine.  Jade gained and A* in Human Biology, an A in Chemistry, B in Maths and A grades for her extended project and AS Psychology.

Vocational students at the College also impressed in the latest round of results. Over 40 students achieved triple distinctions, which is the equivalent to three A grades at A Level. The performance in drama was particularly impressive with triple distinctions being awarded to every student on the course.

Talking about the results, College Principal, Peter Ryder said, “These results are fantastic. I’m particularly pleased that more students have gone on to achieve higher grades. In a year when competition for university places is at its highest, our students have responded admirably. I wish them every success in the future”.
