English Combined - AS/A2

If your interest in English is wide-ranging, this course can combine the best of all worlds, a chance to write creatively, to read stories, plays and poetry, and to learn about and analyse how language works in a variety of situations from writing for children to soap-opera scripting from advertisements to autobiography.

Over the two years you will:

  • Study four main literary texts as well as many extracts
  • Learn how spoken English differs from written
  • Try your hand at various editorial tasks, adapting material for new purposes
  • Have the chance to do your own writing, both fiction and non-fiction

Due to the demands of this course, in addition to the minimum entry requirements applicants must have a grade 'B' GCSE in English Language.
