Business Studies - AS/A2
This popular subject is taken by students who want to study the workings of the thriving and rapidly changing business world. You will study aspects of management, marketing, finance and human resources via case studies, trips, guest speakers and interactive learning materials.The subject is brought to life by looking at real business events as they happen and will focus on a wide range of businesses from multi-national companies to small and medium sized enterprises.
The study of business studies will give you the knowledge and skills to enter any area of employment and provides an understanding of commerciality that all employers require. Students can progress to Higher Education to study a range of Business
related subjects.
Economics AS and A2
The study of Economics develops an understanding of, and an
insight into, microeconomics (the study of the economic
problems of businesses and people and the way particular parts
of an economy behave) and macroeconomics (the study of
financial systems at a national level.
You will develop an enquiring, critical and thoughtful
'economist's mind', practising skills and developing qualities and
attitudes which will equip you for the challenges, opportunities
and responsibilities of adult and working life.
At AS you will study Unit 1: Markets and market failure and
Unit 2: The National Economy.
A2 explores two contemporary and relevant contexts;
Unit 3: Business Economics and the Distribution of Income and
Unit 4: The National and International Economy. You will study
economic concepts and theories in greater depth and recognise
the values and limitations of economic models.
