Additional Learning Support (ALS)

At Hyde Clarendon there are Additional Learning Support Tutors who will work with you and help you to achieve your learning goals.You may want to access the support because:

  • You have a Learning Disability such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, or ADHD
  • English is your second language
  • You have a hearing or visual impairment
  • You have a physical disability that affects you at college
  • You have a medical condition that affects you at college
  • You need help with reading, writing or maths
  • You want to develop your skills in organising and planning your work.

Whatever the reason, ALS Tutors will:

  • Assess your needs
  • Deliver your support in the classroom and/or on a one-to one basis
  • Organise the loan of specialist equipment e.g. laptops, specialist software.
  • Arrange exam considerations e.g. additional time, readers and writers.

If you would like to make use of ALS please discuss your needs with us:

  • At your interview
  • Tell your Personal Tutor when you start college
  • Speak to any of your teachers or a member of the ALS team at any point throughout the year
  • Tell your Personal Tutor when you have your Tutorial Review each term.
